The LBCA-02 is an Active Balance Control that works well with both the classic and X-series pickups from EMG™ as well as pickups from most other manufacturers.
For more information about the LBCA-02, download the Owner’s Guide here.
The VOL-01 is a passive 25K volume control designed to receive input from low impedance Active pickups, our LBCA-02 Active Blend Control, or the EMG™ ABCX Blend Control.

Bassist Paul McFadden recently upgraded his Spector CST from the stock configuration (EMG X-series P/J pickups and Legacy preamp) to the LHZ preamp with the new MID-03 Midrange control and a set of EMG PJ (CS) pickups. The challenge was that while the stock configuration was great for his traditional rock band, he needed a warmer tone for his funk / groove band.
Fede Delfino took a little time between tour dates to record a playthrough of “What’s Left Of Us” by Magnetico using his Spector Euro LX that he’d recently upgraded with LHZ Preamps.
SYMPTOMS: You are experiencing unusual noise when a wireless transmitter is used. The noise can be anything from static, hiss, high-frequency whine, pops, clicks, dropouts, or audio fading in and out.
CAUSE: Wireless transmitters that use a 3-conductor TRS plug can cause noise issues.
We’ve had several users report that the new Legacy preamp is somehow slightly darker sounding than the Hazlabs on their NS2, and ask if the LHZ preamp would resolve that. One client shipped us their Legacy preamp so we could conduct testing to compare the Legacy to the LHZ.
