Steven Ferguson recently upgraded his 2009 Euro LX from the stock TonePump to the LHZ-04 preamp. He’d previously recorded a cover of “Shot In the Dark” with this bass, and online users asked if he’d re-record the same song with the LHZ. We reached out to Steven to see if we could mash these up to hear a back-to-back comparison. Here’s the result! While the differences are subtle in the final mix, focus on the initial note attack where you…

This is performed on a Spector Doug Wimbish with an LHZ preamp, and really highlight the versatility of tone that can be achieve. Ioannis Sandalis : Ghost in the Ruins bass playthrough

Ioannis Sandalis posted this great video playthrough of “Ghost in the Ruins” by Savatage. We love this for a few reasons: Ioannis was inspired to swap out the electronics in his Rebop with an LHZ preamp as he was aiming to get that tone from the Savatage albums that were all recorded on a Brooklyn-era Spector. There’s a tone of tasty detail and articulation on the upper strings, so get the headphones out and enjoy!
