“These LHZ’s are a serious game-changer! It’s like I finally unlocked the full potential of my Spectors. Drop it in, fire it up, and play. Simple, as it should be. I’ll never know why I waited so long to make the switch.“

North Carolina bassist Jake Tripp has built a reputation for his aggressive playing style and energetic stage presence, performing with hard rock and metal bands including Gunshine, THE FIFTH, and 80’s veterans such as Ron Keel and Cold Sweat. A veteran of the Southeastern rock scene, Jake joined THE FIFTH in 2019 and later became part of Gunshine, bringing his distinctive bass tone and backing vocals to both bands. His career has taken him from regional clubs to national tours and major concert stages, including performances alongside Foreigner and Overkill.
Jake’s playing draws heavily from the attitude and energy of classic hard rock and heavy metal, combining a gritty, overdriven pick attack with tight, driving bass lines. His influences include John Entwistle, Jason Newsted, Billy Gould, David Ellefson, Victor Wooten and D.D. Verni, reflecting an appreciation for both aggressive rock bass and technical musicianship.
In recent years, Jake has expanded his audience through his work with Florida-based rock band Gunshine, whose 2026 album Grand Rising blends traditional hard rock with elements of funk, hip-hop, and modern melodic rock. The album includes the singles “Goth Girl,” “Finite,” and “Single Looks Good On You,” along with a guest appearance by Steel Panther vocalist Michael Starr. Alongside his continued work with THE FIFTH, Jake remains an active touring and recording musician, bringing his unmistakable playing style to a new generation of rock audiences.
