Legacy has a much higher current draw (6.62mA) than the LHZ (0.39mA). Yes, you read that right: one Legacy draws the same current as 16 LHZ preamps! We’ve got a Legacy in the shop now and are in the process of conducting battery performance tests on it…
In this video, we’re taking a departure from the usual preamp comparisons to do a quick comparison of the LHZ with 3 different pickups:
1. EMG P/J set: Active single-coil P/J set we all know and love!
2. Aguilar DCB: Passive humbuckers that are the stock pickups in the new Spector Icon models.
3. EMG HZ: Passive humbuckers that were the stock pickups in the Spector Rebop models.
In this video Fede takes us through the amps and signal chain he’s using on this tour. This rig is all about vintage analog tone and feel!
We had the opportunity to catch up with Fede Delfino as the Sebastian Back “The PARTY NEVER ENDS” tour came through Greenville this year.
In this video Fede shows his main Spector Euro used on this tour and discusses how the LHZ preamp has impacted the feel of this instrument.
We’ve finally posted our comparison between the Darkglass Tone Capsule and the LHZ preamp. This is NOT intended to show one preamp as better than the other. Instead, the goal is to help players understand the unique EQ, dynamics, and harmonic response of each circuit design to be able to make a more informed decision. We all struggle to decipher marketing jargon and the subjective opinions of other players, so we do these video with the intent of objectively showing…
We are proud to announce that the long awaited 3-band version of the LHZ preamp has been released! The LHZ-05 combines our existing LHZ-04 (2-band preamp) and our MID-03 midrange module to provide a single-board 3-band preamp. This video walks through some of the new features of the LHZ-05 3-band preamp.
Finished with your new preamp install, plugged in, and all you have is the sound of silence? No worries! This is almost always due to a missed or incorrect connection in the circuit. In this video, I’ll walk you through a series of 5 tests that will identify where the problem with the signal is. You can get the Troubleshooting Flowchart here: Troubleshooting Steps
QwikChord was a guitar chord diagram illustration tool that was first released as freeware in 2002 and became a retail application used worldwide by authors, teachers, students, and worship team leaders. We still receive email from clients, so we’ve decided to re-release the original QwikChord on the LHZ website. You find it here: https://lhzpreampshop.com/products/qwikchord
One of the most common questions we receive is: “what do I need to do a solderless installation?” Over half of our clients install preamp upgrades with no soldering skills! Yet, there are some installation scenarios that require connecting existing wires to wires from the preamp kit. This video shows how a IDC (Insulation Displacement Connector) can be used to splice wires without needing a soldering iron or special skills.
