Ioannis Sandalis : Ghost in the Ruins bass playthrough

Ioannis Sandalis posted this great video playthrough of “Ghost in the Ruins” by Savatage. We love this for a few reasons: Ioannis was inspired to swap out the electronics in his Rebop with an LHZ preamp as he was aiming to get that tone from the Savatage albums that were all recorded on a Brooklyn-era Spector. There’s a tone of tasty detail and articulation on the upper strings, so get the headphones out and enjoy!

Kevin Pelepako: Operation Mindcrime – Queensryche

This is a Spector Skylar Accord model with a 40P5 at the neck, 40DC at the bridge, and the LHZ preamp. Audio chain is a Mesa Subway DI Preamp into my PreSonus interface. There are no effects or overdrive, just a little bit of compression.

Bass Comparison with the LHZ HazLabs preamp clone

I bought the LHZ-02 HazLabs preamp clone for my Spector NS-2A which I purchased in the 1990’s without the original pickups and HazLabs preamp. It had Seymour Duncan Basslines PJ pickups and preamp installed instead.

I’m loving this in my 5 LX and will be getting a second one for the intended NS-2A.
