Ioannis Sandalis posted this great video playthrough of “Ghost in the Ruins” by Savatage. We love this for a few reasons:
- I grew up in Tampa and Sarasota, so Savatage is one of the bands were inspirational to all of us musicians sweating it out in rented warehouses and hoping to break out!
- This is played on a Rebop (one of my favorite and underappreciated Spector models)
- Great playing and song, recorded direct so you can hear all the goodness.
Ioannis was inspired to swap out the electronics in his Rebop with an LHZ preamp as he was aiming to get that tone from the Savatage albums that were all recorded on a Brooklyn-era Spector. There’s a tone of tasty detail and articulation on the upper strings, so get the headphones out and enjoy!
