This is a tone demo of a 2010-era Spector Euro LX from that was original built for Fitty Wienhold, bass player for U.D.O. (Udo Dirkschneider, ex-Accept). SaimoN takes it through a range of EQ and pickup settings to demonstrate the tonal range of the Euro with the LHZ Preamp.

Preamp Battery Comparison: Alkaline vs. Rechargeable

We often get questions about batteries from clients who are used to passive instruments: In this video we look at how preamp batteries discharge over time to answer these questions, and compare a standard Alkaline battery against a common NiMH rechargeable battery.

Solving Compact Wireless Noise Injection

If you find yourself getting unusual noise from your one-piece wireless transmitter on your guitar or bass, you may have a noise injection issue. Noise injection is most often noticed in ultra-low power preamps when using guitar transmitters that use a 3-conductor TRS plug. There are a few factors that can cause this: Compact one-piece transmitters use the RING and SLEEVE of the plug to recharge their internal batteries when docked. This requires an electronic circuit to monitor the RING…

Wireless Transmitter Noise Remediation

SYMPTOMS: You are experiencing unusual noise when a wireless transmitter is used. The noise can be anything from static, hiss, high-frequency whine, pops, clicks, dropouts, or audio fading in and out.

CAUSE: Wireless transmitters that use a 3-conductor TRS plug can cause noise issues.

Legacy vs LHZ Preamps

We’ve had several users report that the new Legacy preamp is somehow slightly darker sounding than the Hazlabs on their NS2, and ask if the LHZ preamp would resolve that. One client shipped us their Legacy preamp so we could conduct testing to compare the Legacy to the LHZ.

Ioannis Sandalis : Ghost in the Ruins bass playthrough

Ioannis Sandalis posted this great video playthrough of “Ghost in the Ruins” by Savatage. We love this for a few reasons: Ioannis was inspired to swap out the electronics in his Rebop with an LHZ preamp as he was aiming to get that tone from the Savatage albums that were all recorded on a Brooklyn-era Spector. There’s a tone of tasty detail and articulation on the upper strings, so get the headphones out and enjoy!

Matt Baldwin LHZ-04 Review

Matt Baldwin is an independent recording artist at Mind’s Eye Recording Studios and bassist for the blues-rock band Teskey. He purchased the LHZ-04 to upgrade the stock preamp in his custom Spector and took it into the studio to record tracks for Teskey’s 2025 album “White Wolf.” Matt completely surprised us by recording a video review of the LHZ-04 preamp, which we are proud to share here! This video had us grinning ear-to-ear about halfway through when we got to…
